Polyclad® 777 Series

Looking for 50 to 100 years corrosion protection on burried pipelines or tanks?

Structural, Solvent-Free, Aromatic Polyurethane

Product Description – Generic Description
Polyclad 777 – Solvent-free aromatic polyurethane, ASTM D16 Type V

  • Polyclad 777 is a high-performance 100% solids structural polyurethane designed to provide superior corrosion protection for steel, ductile iron, concrete pipe, as well as piles and other structures installed in soil.
  • Tenacious adhesion and high impact resistance allow its use in the harshest environments, forming a dense, long-term impermeable barrier ready for service moments after application through a snap-set cure mechanism.

Polyclad 777 – Application Features

  • Solids by Volume (SBV): 100%
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC): 5 g/l
  • Dry Film Thickness (DFT): 25-125 mils (700 – 3100 microns, practically unlimited wet on wet)
  • Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (Optimal mixing ratio to secure correct mixing proportions)
  • Dry to Touch: 90 Seconds (@75°F/24°C)
  • Dry to Handle: 9 Minutes (@75°F/24°C)
  • Cures at Sub-zero Temperatures: (0°F / -18°C), allows for year-round projects and repairs in cold climate zones
  • Immediate handling and QC capability

Polyclad 777 – Application Features (continued)

  • Finish: Gloss
  • Colors: Standard Colors available; can be top-coated with other PU
  • Direct to Metal: Primer-less application
  • Rapid Exothermic Cure
  • Up to 2-hour Recoat Times for Repairs

  • Small Disposable Repair Kits (777 R)

Product Description – The Technology Explained

Polyurethane vs. Elastomeric Urethanes

Polyclad 777 features a highly crosslinked polymer matrix compared to elastomeric urethanes, making it rigid (structural). The crosslinking provides a tough, hard yet flexible system, with high tensile, excellent hardness, and compressive strength due to the urethane bonds.

Polyclad 777 – Where Used

Markets:

  • Water Transmission
  • Oil & Gas Pipeline
  • Municipal Wastewater
  • Power
  • OEM Equipment Manufacturing

Applications:

  • Buried pipe
  • Steel or ductile iron
  • Concrete
  • Buried tanks or other structures
  • Utility poles
  • Pilings
  • Penstocks

Pipe Market Dynamics

  • Owners seek improved technologies over competing ones that have failed.
  • Municipalities are moving towards large diameter steel pipe due to growing water needs and demand for better flow characteristics.
  • Specifying authorities recommend coated steel pipe for long-term design life and water quality.

Product Selection – Steel Exterior

  • 100% solids structural polyurethanes are preferred for their fast set time, single-coat application, unlimited film build, superior adhesion, and high impact and abrasion resistance.
  • Polyclad 777 offers a snap cure application, outstanding adhesion, low permeability, durability, longevity, and zero VOCs.
